Recycled Art and Artist
August 19, 2007
For my first post, I thought I should start with a key element of this blog, reycled art and artist.
When I first starting using the term recycled artist, I would have to explain what I meant. Even though people have been creating art using recycled materials since way before my time, I knew artists that worked with reycled materials as just plain artists or craftsman. Now the terms recycled art and recycled artist are fairly common.
I work with a variety of material…whatever inspires me at the moment. Sometimes I look at something and it reminds me of something and I just have to complete the picture. It’s not exactly a perfect method of creating a successful business. For a long time everything looked like bugs to me. I made bugs out of bobby pins and wood beads, keys, the bottoms of butter knifes, and a few other things. You probably get the idea…
Over the years, I’ve come in contact with a circle of other artists using recycled materials, recycled artists. I started a website about a year ago devoted to my beloved Northwest and recycled art. I’m working on getting a shopping cart up on that site and would like to feature other recycled artists.
