I’m making earrings for two my daughters’ teachers for Christmas. As with everything else, I find it difficult to just make what I need to give. I end up making a few “just in case…” Hopefully none of their teachers read my blog.

The dominoes I’m using for the earrings are approximately .5″x1″. They’re about .16″ (4mm) thick. They’re small and lightweight which makes them ideal for earrings.

I’ve been making brooches and bracelets for quite a few years, but I think this is the first time I’ve ever made earrings. I probably never would have made earring if I hadn’t acquired never used earring findings at bargain prices at a a couple of estate sales.

I wasn’t actively looking for sales when I found my findings.  I stopped at on a whim. Both times we were on a family outing, when I spotted a sign and asked to stop. I had been on a quest for the right size and color of dominoes.  I was still in thinking, “I’ll give it another try”

At one particular estate, I was getting ready to pay for my broken vintage jewelry treasures when the cashier asked me if I make jewelry. “YES”, I said and elaborated, “Not only that, but I have friends who also make jewelry and other things out of bits and pieces of pretty vintage things.” The cashier proceeded to pull out a box full of findings. She offered them to me at a price I couldn’t refuse.

The findings were a hodgepodge of things that I’m slowly working my way through. I still have quite a bit left. Every once in a while I sort through them and come up with a new project. The latest are these dangling domino earrings.

Here’s a few more pictures of the earrings.

You just never know what your going to find when you stop at an estate sales.   Sometimes the real treasures are only a friendly conversation away.

I just put the extras up for sale in my etsy shop.  The price includes shipping.   For earrings, Click here.
