Easter Greetings

Happy Easter!

Easter was never a big gift giving holiday in my family.  With 5 kids and a very small house I don’t think my parents wanted to give us even more toys that we left in the middle of the floor for someone to trip over.  I’m sure giving 5 kids chocolate made my mom quake with fear.  Having said that, I do remember a few chocolate bunnies.  Sometimes we had those colorful candy eggs with the gooey white centers.   When I was very small we received plastic buckets with shovels and rakes to play with outside.  We did color hard boiled eggs.  My parents never hid them.  My mom used them in her potato salad.    We had potato salad and ham on Easter Sunday.

Note just in case one of my older siblings is reading this, I was child number 4.  I hear that things were different before the last 3 of us came along.  My oldest brother remembers a very different childhood; however, no matter the order of our birth,  I think we all remember the potato salad.

Even without the chocolate bunnies and egg hunts, we still celebrated.  We believed in the Easter Bunny for a short time even if we wondered why we were short-changed many an Easter Sunday.  With those Easter memories in mind, I decided to make a little digital Easter card using a Cottontail rabbit image I found in an old National Geographic.  You’ll have to click on my digital card to see it at the appropriate size.

I decided to take the little bunny and place him inside a digital image of Van Gogh’s irises.  It seems appropriate to place him in a field of flowers since at Easter the flowers are either starting to bloom or in full bloom.  I gave him a basket and some eggs from other public domain images.

Have a Happy Easter everyone.  Eat lots of potato salad!

Hi, Miss Sandy here, thank you for joining the Easter Parade! Love your digi art and doodles! Thank you for sharing your Easter memories, I too remember those gooey eggs, I never liked them myself so I traded them for those malted milk eggs!I hope you have a blessed Easter!

  11. Thank you. I used to love malted balls. I never liked those gooey eggs either. I would have preferred anything chocolate.

I like the digital card you made, Plum.

My childhood memories of Easter include hiding and finding Easter eggs. We didn’t have potato salad, but we ate deviled eggs during Easter season. One year, my dad bought me a live baby chicken for Easter (what was he thinking?!) but the dog didn’t like it so it went back to the store, which was the best thing for everybody. ;)
