I love my fabric collection.   It is a very large collection.  It fills up a large portion of my large walk-in closet plus a whole dresser.  The fabric in my closet is stored in clear plastic tube with lids.  I have the fabrics somewhat sorted by color.  I’ve had many of the fabrics for 3 or 4 years.  Much of my collection is vintage.  Even though I can’t possibly use all the fabric I have, I still have a hard time parting with much of it.

My husband doesn’t like my fabric collection very much.  He wishes I would get rid of most, if not all of it.   At some level I agree with him.  Why should I have all this fabric laying around waiting for that inspiring moment when some wonderful creative person could be sewing the outfit of home decor item of their dreams?  Also, if the fabric is unavailable for me to look at, I won’t be dreaming up even more projects to work on.

Still I find it hard to part with my fabrics.

I decided to pick out some choice fabrics to list in my Pink Paisley Polka Dots shop.   I know people like to make totes, bags and purses so I listed a few upholstery fabrics.  I also listed some of my lighter favorite fabrics.  I’m imagining aprons and outfits as well as handbags and hats.  If any of you creative sort have a good use for fabrics.  I think I’ve listed them at good prices.  Here’s some small thumbnails for you.

  1. Off to look at all the pretty fabric.

  2. Hi Michelle! Thanks for looking. You, of course, know that on packages over 1 lb, the shipping will most likely be cheaper for you. I’ve given the worst case U.S. shipping costs in my listings. Your postal zone is close to mine.

I completely understand how hard it is to part with fabric! :D Actually, I don’t really have a stash–I have more fabric scraps that are left over from garment sewing projects. I have a hard time throwing away fabric scraps! ;)

  4. I see Nana with a lot of those fabrics for some reason. LOL!

  5. Hi Belinda! I think you need to make some little bags or those pockets Quilty was talking about.

RW, Nana does use a lot of upholstery fabric. I think Pop feels the same way as my husband. It’s a good thing Nana doesn’t have an etsy account. ;-)
