I slipped and fell on Friday of the Memorial Day weekend.  I wrenched my back and knee.   I still had a bunch of cleaning to finish over those 3 days.  I worked even though I was sore and exhausted.  I decided I deserved a break yesterday.  I relaxed, walked the dogs and finished off some laundry yesterday.  Now I feel like I really need to accomplish something.  I set aside my altered Rummikub® doll because I know it will take me quite a few days to complete it.

Making Mice

I have quite a bit of faux fur that I’ve been meaning to use in some way.  I decided to do something simple.  I thought I would make some catnip mouse toys for the cats.  I cut a 5″ strip off of one side of the fur.  Then I cut the strip into 5″ segments.  I sewed each segment into a cone.   I’ll be adding embroidered eyes, stuffing, catnip and tails later.

Priming Stars

A few years ago I bought 6 7 1/2″ wood stars.  Although I’m not fond of grungy primitive, I really like Americana.  Since the 4th of July will be coming up soon, I thought it was about time I painted my stars.  I’ve just started preparing them .  I just primed them.

I generally work on a few projects at once.  Today I had my stars and mice lined up on the table and I had to chuckle.  All of today’s projects are white.   I chuckled because I love color.  I generally have multi-colored bits and pieces all over my table.  It’s kind of refreshing.

I rather like the white stars – can’t wait to see what you will do with them….and the mice are going to be SO cute! Lucky cats :)

  2. Max loves it when I make him catnip toys…heck he loves it when I let him roll in catnip, period. ROFL! Those meeses are going to be well loved.

Can’t wait to see the stars! I have some metal ones in Americana that I put up almost year-round outside.

  3. Hi Diane! You know that the stars can’t remain white. I have to put some red white and blue on them.

Hi Michelle! After handling all that catnip I had 2 cats following me around last night and rubbing on my legs. I think they thought I was one big catnip toy.
