One Artsy Project Down, A Zillion to Go
September 10, 2008
I generally run with a great deal of stress in my life. I often have many projects going all at once. I usually don’t mind because I love being able to accomplish something. Right now my load is a little heavy even for me. I was really hoping to do some Halloween this year, but I’m beginning to wonder whether I’ll ever be able to get to it on time. Along with my normal commitments, I’ve picked up some overflow from a couple other over-committed people. Also, I’ve been helping with my studio remodel and will continue until it is done…hopefully soon. At least I have managed to squeeze in a little time for my own stuff.
I did finish the sugar tin lamp base. I repainted the tin. It needed refreshing. I also painted the base gold. I did change the arrangement on top slightly. I found another brass piece that I like better than the slip ring. You can’t see it in the photograph and actually you can’t really see it unless you looking directly down at the lamp. I just liked the look of the new piece.
The lamp shade could use some work, but the lamp base is done. YAY!
I painted the computer desk completely black. I did some calling around for some additional parts I need. I spent most of the day yesterday working up a design using Adobe® Photoshop®. Thank heavens for computers! I’m getting ready to paint some outlines before I talk to the kids in the classroom about their art project. This is the last photo I’ll post of the auction piece for a while. We need to surprise our competition.
Before the school auction project came up, I had been working on a few small project. I think I can squeeze in some time to work on some of the small projects, I’ve already started. This was an old baby shoe I found at an estate sale. This poor shoe was an orphan. I’ve just started altering it into something special. I’ve dressed it up with some liquid gold leaf. This will be a satisfying project. I have a general idea of what I’d like to do with the shoe, but only a general idea. I really enjoy the spontaneity of finding and adding embellishments.
I have a small list of other things that I need to finish by the end of the month. I have an altered domino key chain to finish. Also, I’m going to attend a small workshop on altered books. I’ll have another meeting at the end of the month with my crafty friends. The book would be a great project to work on during that meeting.
I think I should forgo the coffee this month and drink chamomile tea. I need to calm down a bit.
