Day 4: Putting Together A Recycled Domino Charm Necklace
June 16, 2009

I put a necklace together using my altered dominoes. I decided to pick up the red in the recycled paper (the background on the front of the dominoes). I just acquired that big ole red bed (in the center of the necklace) in a doodah lot. I had a beautiful turquoise blue and crystal orphaned earring that I wanted to reuse. I also found a vintage gold metal heart finding. I bought some glass beads at the bead store in turquoise blue and red. I can’t help myself. I love that color combination.

I decided to use some gold wire to wire-wrap the dominoes and beaded charms together. I found some fancy gold metal chain that I’m using to go around the neck. I used one of the toggle clasps I bought a while ago.

In case the dominoes get flipped over while the necklace is being worn, the backside will be just as pretty as the front. The Swarovski crystals set in gold are beautiful. Notice that I added the turquoise blue recycled paper to the back of the heart. The paper serves two purposes, it draws more color down into the centerpiece and it covers the wire that I used to attach the reused earring to the heart jewelry finding.
Yay! That one is done. I still have to finish this month’s bead challenge.

Nice job! It’s beautiful.
I really enjoyed reading about how you started with the dominoes all the way to finishing a necklace. Thanks for sharing!
