I’m a recycled artist. I work with recycled materials to create one of kind functional and not so functional art. Although I’ve probably had a love of transforming junk all my life, I really began pursuing my passion about 7 years ago. I do conventional art and fine crafts as well. I love working with metals, especially copper. I started out in the fine crafts business making copper lamps and home decor. I paint/render/draw. I love watercolors and pastels.
Here’s a short video including a small number of my recycled art pieces.
You can also find more information about me at my newest website devoted to recycled art, free projects and places in Oregon and on a previous website http://www.perpetualplum.com. I also sell on etsy under the ids perpetualplum and paisleypolkadots. My Pink Paisley Polka Dots etsy shop contains mostly vintage and supplies with some handmade fabric items.

I finally took some time to see what your doing and it’s great. Very creative and well presented. I love the idea of recycling for art materials and the work itself is wonderful. There’s a lot to look at here.

Thank you very much for stopping by and looking at my blog.
In 2000, I made a statement to a classroom full of people that I would like to eliminate the word “trash” from our vocabulary. All except for one person in that classroom laughed.
People are starting to pick up the “green” movement once again. I think Al Gore, his movie and the following media coverage have really done great things for the recycle/reuse/reclaim art and craft community.

What a lovely, unique and inventive series of treasures you’ve made from unexpected items. I’m smitten with your waste baskets! They’re wonderful.
Great displays of your bracelets on the background materials you’ve chosen too.
Delightful blog, very creative and friendly!
Thanks.

Z is a friend and yes she’s on eBay. I sold on eBay for a long time as well.
Z (and debcoart) is the one that encouraged me to do a youtube video. That’s why I put a dedication to her at the end.

Hi Jan! Thanks for looking at my shop. I haven’t been advertising my etsy shop much. I’m afraid I’ve been working on submissions lately instead of filling my store.

I found you when I was searching for button bracelets, and popped over to watch your video. You’re so talented. I just got a batch of dominoes from my sister to create with, and looking for ideas for those, too. Great job!

Hi Sue – I love your snow photos and am enjoying the snow while it’s here (not sure why we have school off today, but I certainly won’t argue with the powers that be!). I also really enjoyed the tutorial on sewing oilcloth – thanks for the tips on something I’d like to try. I look forward to your rescheduled open studio!

Thanks lulu! I think our district is going to close schools through the week. I thought I would wait until after the holiday to schedule another open studio.

Hi I was searching the net for a set of salt and pepper shakers similar or the same to ones I own. I finally found your picture on flikr of the 2 wooden bulls.
I have a passion for collecting vintage wooden nick nacks and I was wondering if you have any information on these Bulls. Mine have a stand that they sit on also.
If you know anything please let me know =)

I don’t know much about them. I tried to find out something about them when I decided to list them in my etsy shop, but I didn’t come up with anything. I can’t even remember where I found them.
I did have a booth in an antique, gift and collectible store. I’m still trying to clear out some of the accumulated stuff. I’m not an expert by any means on antiques and collectibles. I just collect what I like.
They did sell pretty quickly. I do know the person who bought them from me. She collects salt and pepper shakers.

I am having a hard time wrapping Mini Christmas Lights. Yours are so good.
Could you please help me in this?
What is your trick to wrapping these little booger without the wire breaking off.
Thank you so much,
Cindy Hoglund

Cindy,
You can put just a dot of super glue where the wires meet at the top of the bulb. Be very gentle when you do your wrap. I don’t know what gauge of wire you are using to wrap. I used 24 gauge. If you’re using a heavier wire, you may be flexing the little wires too much. I’ve used annealed steel and the regular silver craft wire. They are both very easy to bend around the bulb. I hope this helps.

Hello P-plum
What a marvelous site you have. And such a creative mind. A double whammy. I stumbled across your site while tag surfing at WordPress. And a bit of serendipity as I’d just posted a piece this morning on rejuvenating jewelry … small world. Love to meet another recycler!
